Urban Transportation Systems


Syllabus

  • Criteria for the selection of traffic systems in the city, the influence of settlement patterns, the use of space and the type of urban structure on traffic in the city,
  • Non-motorized traffic (system of footpaths, sidewalks, bicycle network, basics of design and network design, capacity, safety, interaction with other infrastructure),
  • Automotive traffic (various forms - personal, taxi, characteristics, infrastructure and network, dormant traffic),
  • Public passenger bus transport (various forms, infrastructure and network, characteristics, capacity, organization and financing)
  • Railway passenger transport (various forms, infrastructure and network, characteristics, capacity, organization and financing)
  • Other systems (modern autonomous systems, water passenger transport, cableways, etc.)
  • Intermodal terminals,
  • Modern guidelines for managing traffic in cities.

The purpose of the course is to acquaint students with basic knowledge in the field of urban trasport.
