Professional Practice for Engineers (SS)


Syllabus

The practice is carried out in accordance with the PROGRAM OF PRACTICE FROM THE STUDY PROGRAMS FOR OBTAINING HIGH PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION (VII level of education) valid from 01.01.2001.
The ship engineer acquires knowledge from the following contents of the work on the ship or platform.
- Preparation of fuel and lubricants for propulsion machinery
- Assistance in the navigational and harbor guard
- Maintenance of the shipyard machine
- Get to know the details of navigational and port guards in accordance with the requirements of the STCW Convention
- Getting to know the details of the performance and operation of pipelines for navigation safety (bilge, ballast and fire protection), as evidenced by the description and sketching
- Getting acquainted with navigation and environmental protection measures
- Handling means of rescue
The candidate must keep a log of the course of practical work and submit it to the head after completion of the practice.

Goals and competencies

- The student should gain the necessary experience through practical work to independently carry out all tasks which, according to tradition and the STCW Convention, fall within the scope of work of an Merchant Navy officer.
- Through active participation in the work process, the student will learn about the specific work of a particular company in the maritime and transport sector, its structure, management, leadership and supervision.
