Syllabus

Knowledge of all relevant international maritime conventions and national legislation in this field and the procedure for the implementation of international treaties in national law. Maritime Law (Contracts, Bill of Lading, Shipper's Liability), Maritime Averages, Property Rights on the Ship, Arrest of Ship, Master Procedures, Law of the Sea (concept and sources,
maritime zones, status of seagoing ships), maritime administrative law (international maritime organizations, nationality of the ship, ship's register, ship's inspection, ship's books and documents, navigation security, crew rights and duties) SAR at sea, SOLAS Convention, COLREGS 1972, MARPOL 73/78.

Goals and competencies

The student must be familiar with the legal concepts and institutes of the maritime law (obligations), law of the sea and martime administrative law.
