Transport Engineering


Syllabus

  1. Fundamentals of transport engineering: natural thermodynamic principles, the connection of the field with other technical fields. Use of new technical knowledge in the development of transport engineering.
  2. Energy conversion and energy resources: oil and gas, resource scarcity, alternative sources, oil resources, hydrogen period, production, transport, distribution and storage of hydrogen on-board, fuel cells, hybrid and electric vehicles.
  3. Renewable energy: Exploitation of solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, biomass, hydropower
  4. Vehicles: Principles and operation of individual sets of means of transport, matching engine performance with needs. Directions of development of innovations in equipment of vehicles, reduction of fuel consumption, exhaust emissions, systematic measures for encouraging investments for the purchase of organic vehicles.
  5. Driving resistors, the construction of various means of transport for individual purposes. Economic, technical and ecological comparison of the characteristics between the means of transport, determining the optimal engine power, the engine operating range, the fuel consumption and the emissions depending on the operating conditions.
  6. Vehicle maintenance and recycling: modern approaches to vehicle maintenance, extension of service intervals. Design of vehicles suitable for complete recycling, processing plants for this purpose.
  7. The role and importance of engineering work in technological, economic and organizational measures to improve the business of transport companies. The role of a security advisor and the care for the safe transport of ADR goods.

Goals and competencies

Repeat, expand and apply basic physical knowledge in solving technical problems in the company. To increase the general technical knowledge on means of transport, energy sources for drives in transport, to define the natural limits of conversions, to know the modern technology of transport means and the direction of development of environmentally and energetically acceptable means of transport.
