Human Resources Management in Transport


Syllabus

  • Definition of the subject: human resources and human resource management
  • Theories on human needs and capabilities: development of needs, capabilities and motivations (phylogenesis and ontogenesis).
  • Special psycho-physiological factors: psycho-physiological factors of capabilities and health in transportation (psychomotor capabilities, awareness, emotions, mental process, memory, the influence of speed on capabilities, height  physiology, perception, disorientation and illusions, physiology of temperature extremes, the influence of multi-ethnical rations on human behaviour).
  • Human error:  human factor of accidents in traffic, stress management
  • Ethics:  values,  generic essence of human beings, alienation, respect of values as a factor of motivation and safety in transport and traffic, vision, mission and values of a company.
  • Communication: verbal and non verbal communication, specifics of communication in transport and traffic as a factor of safety.
  • Employment:  employment process, management mix, managers code, specifics of employment in transport sector
  • Leadership: leadership function, social powers,  leadership styles and company organization, leadership specifics in transportation industry.
  • Motivation: motivation theories, specifics of motivation in transport industry
  • Management of innovation processes: phases of innovative process, team work, resistance to innovations, specific s of innovations in transportation, contrasts and conflicts, intrigues, negotiations.
  • Organisational climate: organisational climate and culture in transportation industry as a factor of efficacy and safety of transportation process.

Goals and competencies

The student:

  • comes to know basic psychophysical characteristics of humans, that are important for their behaviour in working process,
  • learns how to manage his own human resources and human resources of other person in accordance with principles of safety, business ethics and goals of the organisation
  • learns how to manage human resource in the specific conditions of transport industry.
