Modern Technologies in Air Transport

Syllabus

The content of the course covers key technological areas in air transport, which are related to the organization of cargo and passenger transport, the operation of airports, air logistics and air carriers. The emphasis is on the implementation of modern technologies in air transport, along with digitization and sustainable operation of the industry.
Subject-specific content:
•    Air traffic system and functional division of air traffic technology.
•    Modern approaches to aviation logistics planning:
- modern infrastructural and suprastructural elements,
- methodology and parameters for selecting aircraft and transport units and other elements in combined transport,
- digitization in the logistics chain (calculations, planning, e-AWB, traceability...),
- planning and organization of green transport chains,
- criteria and monitoring of the efficiency of the transport chain.
•    Air traffic technology trends:
- guidelines of macro-logistic approaches and traffic-economic characteristics and impacts,
- digital integration of cargo and passenger air transport stakeholders,
- modern technical and technological development (aircraft, drives...).
- technical and technological solutions for aircraft and airlines for a green transition in the aviation industry.
•    Technological approaches and trends in airport development:
- guidelines of transport-technological characteristics and impacts of transport industries on the technical-technological adaptation of airports,
- guidelines of technological-organizational approaches of air carriers and impacts on the operation of airports (RFS, hub...),
- technological and infrastructure development of cargo and passenger airports,
- integration of processes at airports,
- digitization of technological processes and the use of artificial intelligence at airports,
- managing traffic flows and determining the capacity of the airport system,
- methodology and parameters of digital monitoring of airport activities,
- guidelines for reducing the environmental impact of airports,
- technical and technological solutions for the sustainable operation of airports for a comprehensive green transition in the aviation industry.

Goals and competencies

The fundamental goal of the course is a comprehensive deepening of the theoretical starting points and practical solutions to the fundamental problems of air transport technology. The emphasis is on modern technological and technical solutions that are introduced in air traffic. The goal is to train students to solve practical problems in the planning, organization, implementation and control of technological procedures within the framework of processes, whereby the student also becomes familiar with challenges in the economy that can be solved by introducing the digitalization of business. When writing an individual seminar paper, the student contacts a company that implements the green and digital transformation in its operations and analyses a concrete challenge on the topic of aviation technology with the help of the company.
The student acquires specific competencies that enable a professional and scientific-analytical approach when studying the field of air traffic technology. The focus is on professional competences for managing the processes of transport service implementation, with an emphasis on the advantages of digitization and the sustainable operation of air transport.
