Syllabus

The subject includes: characteristics of intermodal terminals as systems, role and importance in intermodal chains, static and dynamic content of the terminal, technological and economic modelling of freight intermodal terminals, characteristics of transport technologies at freight terminals, management of sub-systems of freight intermodal terminals, specific characteristics of transport technologies at passenger terminals, planning and airport management, optimization of the operation of intermodal terminals, the impact of the development of individual transport sectors on the operation of freight and passenger terminals, the role of stakeholders in the operation of intermodal terminals, environmental impacts of freight and passenger terminal operations and sustainable development.

Goals and competencies

The basic goal of the course is to upgrade knowledge about the operation of intermodal terminals, their modeling and management. Subject-specific competences of the subject relate to the knowledge of the fundamental relations between theory and the practical applicability of technological procedures in the management of intermodal terminals. The emphasis is on the knowledge of the methods of modeling terminals and the possibilities of optimizing technological processes in the subsystems of freight and passenger terminals.
