Models and Simulations in Traffic
Syllabus
Traffic flows. Mathematical modelling of stationary and dynamic traffic flow. Whitham-Payne Model of the traffic flow. Non-linear theories of following. Cellular modelling of the traffic flow.
Transport networks. The two Wardop’s principles and the Braess’ paradox. Mathematical modelling of traffic demands and traffic reservations management. The mathematical formula of location problems. The problems of location in stochastic networks.
Goals and competencies
The objective of the subject is the training of students in deep development and usage of traffic flow models, and in management of the flows in transport networks. By means of appropriate understanding of individual factors and their mutual interactions students become able of doing the most difficult analyses using the theory of traffic flow and transport networks.
