Transport Logistics

Logistics refers to a set of activities in any company that aim at finding optimal solutions to identified problems. By analogy, transport logistics addresses the optimisation of transport activities. Logistics is a science and a skill that enhances the convenience, punctuality, reliability, and safety of transport.

Our research in the field of transport technology and transport logistics in oriented toward the research of technical, technological, and organisational properties of traffic, transport, and logistics systems, in particular the planning, use, and management of these systems and their constituent elements, with special emphasis placed on their productivity, reliability, safety, and sustainability. The following research topics deserve special mention:

  • Sustainable development of transport systems, including all modes of transport and their integration.
  • Development of advanced transport technologies (green and smart technologies).
  • Efficient intermodal transport (transport technology and infrastructure, in particular intermodal terminals).
  • Logistics and supply chain planning.
  • Cargo and passenger mobility (mobility in urban centres, public passenger transport, individual mobility).
  • Impact of digitalisation on transport systems and logistics chains.
  • Safety in traffic, transport and logistics (traffic safety and traffic safety management in all modes of transport, in particular the safety of all road transport elements, including the participants in road traffic, road vehicles, and road infrastructure).
  • Ergonomics in traffic and logistics (processes in traffic and logistics systems, with particular reference to the central role of the human element, their abilities and limitations).
